How to Find a Niche For Your Internet Business – 4 Tips For Hot Niche Ideas
The first thing that any new Internet entrepreneur must do is decide what niche they will build their Internet business in. Learning how to find a niche for your Internet business will require some research and creative thinking and may take a little time. However, extra time spent in this first step of planning your new business is time well spent. In this article we will talk about the different ways that you can get ideas for your niche. You should make a list of everything you can think of for niche ideas. Once you have your niche ideas narrowed down, then you can start the research process to nail it all down. But the first step is to get a good list of possible topics. Here are some things that will help you in your brain storming.
What do you know?
When you begin you search for a niche you should start making a list of everything that you can think of that you have knowledge about. Answer these questions on paper to get off to a good start. What do you have expertise in? What do you do in your job? What are your hobbies? If at all possible, you are better off working in a niche that you are familiar with. You will need to be able to write content for a web site, write a sales letter, write articles and blog posts. All of this will be much easier if you already have knowledge of the niche that you are building your business in.
What are your interests?
Is there anything that you don't know but would like to learn about. If you can't find a hot button in a niche that you are already knowledgeable in, then you should look at areas that you have a lot of interest in. Building an Internet business will require a lot of work on your part and if you have a strong interest in your topic you will be more likely to keep working and enjoy the process.
Imagine trying to write 25 articles on a topic that you have no knowledge of and that you have no interest in. It doesn't sound like much fun does it?
Look online for possible niches
You can also look at web sites like DMOZ.org which is the open directory project. This directory is full of great niche ideas that are broken down by categories for you. Sites like Amazon.com are also good places for ideas. Look at top sellers in the non fiction category to see what is selling well and make a note of any possible ideas that you get from that. Another great place to look is eBay pulse and Yahoo buzz. These sites will tell you what is hot right now and could spur your creative juices. Digg.com and Google groups are also great places to see what is being talked about right now.
Look off line for niche ideas
The local book store is a great place to get ideas for a great niche. Spend some time at the magazine rack. Look at the ads in the backs of the magazines and see what they are selling. If they are advertising in a national publication, the odds are good that this could be a very profitable niche for your online business as well.
